Our Standard
Honest Metals. Hand-Selected Stones.
We believe you should know exactly what is on your body.
That means no plated brass pretending to be silver. No mystery alloys. No gemstones chosen by a catalog number. Every Sivalya piece is made from hallmarked 925 sterling silver or 14k gold vermeil with a 2.5-micron gold layer, and set with stones hand-selected for color, clarity, and energy.
Here is exactly what that means.

The Moon's Own Metal
925 Sterling Silver
Not all silver is sterling. The difference matters more than most brands will tell you.
Silver has been the sacred metal of the feminine divine for thousands of years. The metal of the moon, of intuition, of quiet power. It is also the most responsive of the precious metals. Silver is soft enough to hold intricate rope detail and hand-carved texture, and strong enough to live on your body every day.
At Sivalya, we work exclusively in 925 sterling silver. Every piece is stamped with the 925 hallmark, the international certification that guarantees the composition inside.
What 925 Actually Means, and Why Lower-Grade Silver Is a Red Flag
Sterling silver is defined by a precise formula: 92.5% pure silver blended with 7.5% copper. The silver gives the metal its luminous cool tone and characteristic weight. The copper gives it the structural strength to hold a stone setting securely through decades of wear.
Some brands sell "silver" jewelry at 60% or 70% silver content, alloys sometimes called "coin silver," "European silver," or simply unmarked. These pieces are often cheaper, but they come with real trade-offs. They tarnish faster, they are more prone to breaking at solder points, and the higher copper content is far more likely to cause skin discoloration or irritation.
925 is the standard for a reason. It is the composition the world of fine jewelry has agreed upon after centuries of testing. Anything less is a shortcut, and we do not take shortcuts with what touches your skin.
"Coin Silver"
High copper content. Tarnishes quickly. Can irritate skin and leave green marks. Not accepted as sterling anywhere.
Avoid"European Silver"
Below the sterling threshold. Often not hallmarked. Durability and longevity compromised. Not sterling silver.
Substandard925 Sterling, Our Standard
The international standard for fine silver jewelry. Hallmarked, durable, skin-safe. Built for daily wear and generational life.
SivalyaThe 925 Hallmark · Every Sivalya Piece
Every Sivalya piece is hallmarked with the 925 stamp, a tiny mark with an enormous meaning. It is the international certification that what you are holding is sterling silver. Not plated. Not filled. Not alloyed to a lower standard. The metal on the surface is the metal at the core.
Solid, Never Plated
Silver-plated or silver-filled jewelry layers a thin coating of silver over a cheaper base metal, usually brass, copper, or nickel. That coating wears off, sometimes in months. Once it does, the base metal beneath is exposed: green fingers, irritated skin, a piece that looks nothing like what you bought.
Every Sivalya piece is solid sterling silver through and through. The metal at the surface is the same metal at the core. No layers to peel. No expiration date. A Sivalya ring will look like a Sivalya ring in ten years.
Why Silver Holds Our Stones Better
Gold competes with its stones. It demands attention, pulls focus, warms color tones. Silver steps back. Its cool, neutral luster frames stones without distortion, letting the labradorite flash, the moonstone glow, the lapis lazuli radiate its deep celestial blue exactly as the earth made them.
For the stones we work with, silver is not a compromise. It is the more intentional choice.
Hypoallergenic
925 sterling is naturally gentle on sensitive skin, far more so than nickel-heavy alloys or plated pieces.
Tarnish ≠ Damage
Patina is not decay. It is character. A gentle polish restores bright silver in moments, or embrace the oxidized warmth.
Hallmarked 925
Every piece is stamped with the sterling certification, your proof of composition.
Artisan Finished
Hand-set stones, rope detailing, oxidized accents. Sterling rewards the maker's hand and shows the craft.
The Golden Alternative
14k Gold Vermeil, The Real Kind
Most "gold" jewelry on the market is not actually gold. Ours is.
Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is a specific, regulated technique: a thick layer of solid gold bonded to a core of sterling silver. It is not the same as gold-plated jewelry, which uses a whisper-thin layer of gold over cheap brass or steel. The word "vermeil" is legally protected. It requires both the gold thickness and the sterling silver base.
2.5 microns of 14k gold, over a sterling core.
What you are looking at is a cross-section of fine jewelry: a solid sterling silver core with 2.5 microns of 14k gold bonded to every surface. That is five times the industry minimum, thick enough to look and feel like solid gold, durable enough to live on your body for years.
What Our Vermeil Gets You
Our gold vermeil is made to a strict specification: 2.5 microns of 14k gold over solid 925 sterling silver. That is five times the minimum legal requirement for the word "vermeil" to appear on a product, and dramatically thicker than the 0.5 microns most plated jewelry provides.
The result is a piece with the warm, rich tone of 14k gold, the weight and presence of fine jewelry, and the longevity to be worn daily for years.
How It's Different from Gold-Plated
Gold-plated jewelry layers a microscopically thin film of gold (usually 0.5 microns or less) over a base metal like brass, copper, or stainless steel. That coating begins wearing off quickly, often within months, exposing the base metal underneath. This is why plated pieces discolor, cause green marks, and can trigger skin reactions.
Vermeil eliminates both problems. The base is sterling silver, not brass, so even if the gold layer eventually wears thin, what shows through is a precious metal, not a skin-irritating base. And the gold layer is thick enough at 2.5 microns on every Sivalya vermeil piece, that with reasonable care, you can expect years of wear before noticing any change at all.
Caring for Gold Vermeil
Treat vermeil the way you would treat solid gold. Keep it away from chlorine, salt water, perfume, and household chemicals. Put your jewelry on last when getting ready, and take it off first. Store pieces individually in the Sivalya pouch that came with them. With this care, your vermeil piece will look the way it looked the day you opened it for a very long time.
The Soul of the Piece
Hand-Selected Gemstones
The metal holds. The stone speaks.
Every Sivalya stone passes through human hands before it reaches yours. We do not order from catalogs by weight. We do not buy by the kilogram and hope for the best. Our stones are sourced in small lots from trusted cutting partners, then hand-selected at our studio for color saturation, clarity, cut quality, and, crucially, the individual character each stone carries.
Our Five Criteria
- Color. We select stones at the richer, more saturated end of their natural range.
- Clarity. We accept the natural inclusions that prove a stone was formed by the earth, but reject milky clouding or surface damage.
- Cut. Facets must be clean and symmetrical. Cabochons must sit flush and smooth.
- Character. We embrace the individuality of natural stones. No two pieces are identical.
- Energy. Each stone is assigned to one of the six goddess worlds based on its properties and ancient associations.
Beautifully Imperfect
Our gemstones are formed by the earth, not manufactured. That means a moonstone may show one delicate inclusion another does not. A piece of labradorite may flash blue in one light and gold in another. Two emeralds of the same size will read as slightly different greens.
This is the opposite of a flaw. It is the proof of authenticity, the signature of a stone that was formed over millions of years under pressure, not poured into a mold yesterday. Every Sivalya piece carries this individuality. The piece you receive will be uniquely yours.
40+ Stones. Six Goddess Worlds.
Our collection works with over forty varieties of gemstone, each placed within one of our six goddess worlds.
- Lakshmi (Abundance): Citrine, Emerald, Peridot, Malachite
- Durga (Courage): Ruby, Garnet, Carnelian, Tiger's eye
- Saraswati (Wisdom): Moonstone, Aquamarine, Sapphire, Pearl
- Parvati (Love): Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Kunzite
- Kali (Transformation): Labradorite, Black Onyx, Lapis Lazuli
- Mahadevi (The Whole): Clear Quartz, Diamond, Rudraksha
Each stone is a goddess in miniature. Choose yours.
