Mind, Body and Spirit ~ Benefits of Meditation

We live in a connected but a crazy world. Our minds are constantly being bombarded with information from various sources – internet, social media, instant messaging, television, cell phones and friends. It’s no wonder that we begin to feel overwhelmed and overloaded at times. Meditation, starting with just 10 minutes a day, can help take this edge off. Meditation has been shown to reduce stress, increase alertness and boost your immune system.

Buddha advocated Meditation as a direct way to reach enlightenment. You don’t have to be an enlightened, spiritual hippy to gain the benefits of meditation. Just a few minutes of meditation, three times a week is more than enough to help us relax and reduce stress.

Explained simply, steps of meditation are:

  1. Take a deep breath, expanding your belly.
  2. Pause. Exhale slowly to the count of five.
  3. Repeat.
